She Has A Name . . .

                                 . . . At Last!

For over two years, I have been searching for a name for this boat. I have considered several candidates, but none have really made me say, “Yea, that’s her name!”

I take naming a boat seriously. I want the name to reflect certain things. It also has to meet certain requirements. It can’t be too long. It must not be cute, or suggestive. No puns, thank you.

Being a musician, I have made it a practice of naming my boats after song titles from artists I admire, but this time I just couldn’t find one I liked.

I have also been considering coming up with a name that in some way reflects my Irish heritage, and that is what has finally provided this AF3 with her name.

                                                                 Killyrover

The name comes from the precise townland in Maguiresbridge, Fermanaugh, Ireland where my family came from in the 1840s.

My farther spent years researching our family. We know who the people are, and we knew they came from Maguirebridge,  but it was one of my brothers who recently discovered that our original ancestors lived on this small section -- less than 200 acres --  within the town. He was lucky to visit there recently, and when he returned with  the name of the townland, it struck a chord with me. So, my AF3 will be christened Killyrover.

Here is how it will be displayed on the sides of the hull, at the stern (the stern will have the home port listed underneath the triquetra).
